Rail PSV won
promotion to division 2a in this top of the
table clash in Greystones on Saturday may 16th.
With THE STAR watching from the sidelines PSV
gave the kind of performance which make many
believe they were the best team in division
2b this year. However injuries and suspensions
have dogged the roadstone club and promotion
in there first season as a club is a great success.
PSV dominated most of this game and created
the better of the chances. John o Connor missed
a great opportunity after twenty minutes when
he shot inches wide from just inside the box.
O Connor was’nt denied to de denied next
though 5 minutes later when he was put through
by Greg Johnson the keeper was unable to handle
his powerful shot and spilled the ball over
the line 1-0. In the second half Greystones
definitely came into the game more and showed
why they have been unbeaten in the league all
season. However Rail PSV doubled there lead
on 55 minutes when the keeper parried O Connors
low drive straight to the feet of Karl Maguire.2-0.
Greystones pulled one back however with a good
low drive from outside the box.2-1. IT could
have been a nervy finish for Rail who needed
all three points to secure promotion but John
O Connor netted his second of the game with
10 minutes to go to settle the nerves. Congratulations
to Greystones on winning the league they dropped
very few points in the league this year and
deserve the title we’ll see them in 2a
next year though. COME ON THE PSV!!!!!!
Man
of the match - Colly Brennan
Goal of the Match - John O
Connors 2nd
Save of the match - Gaynors

Rail
Psv had to win this home game against fellow
promotion hopefuls Dc close on Wednesday
7th may to still have a mathematical chance
of the league. It was a relly windy evening
in the R.G.S.C so it was obvious that the
team with the wind would have to take a
lead going into the second half. Rail PSV
decided to play with the wind in the first
half but the first half did not go according
to plan. Dc took the lead against the run
of play. Psv had left 3 at the back in search
of a goal and were caught out. Things went
from bad to worse for the home side when
DC doubled their lead 5 minutes later with
an almost identical goal. PSV didn’t
lay down however and fought there way back
into the game with two quick goals first
with a great free kick from John O’Connor
then a cool Kenny Reilly finish from a Karl
Maguire cross. It would have to be a really
good second half performance from PSV to
get these crucial 3 points. The performance
was there but it was just to be one of those
days. A missed penalty and several missed
chances meant a draw was the best PSV could
do. The league is now beyond us we have
to secure runners up now. BRING ON DIVISION
2A. |

Lomans Celtic 1-2 Rail PSV |
| |
| Report:
(by Brin Murray) |
Rail’s
last away game of the first season together
so was being played in griffeen park, lucan
against struggling loman celtic. It was
never going to be an easy fixture because
we had already played Celtic a few weeks
previous and knew that they were well
capable of playing good football. With
3 points vital to PSV keeping the pressure
on leaders Greystones the first goal was
always going to be crucial. Luckily it
fell PSV’s way. Phil Rooney got
his first goal of the season when he calmly
slotted past the keeper. 1-0. A couple
of minutes later center- half Brin Murray
had to go off with what could be knee
ligament damage and could see him miss
the rest of the season. He was replaced
by Ste Kelly and Kenny Reilly slotted
into the defence alongside man of the
match Alan Dar cy. Just after half time
though Lomans equalized with an unstoppable
free kick1-1. The second half was a tight
affair and the relief could be heard on
the sideline when Greg Johnson hammered
home the winner from the edge of the area.
Back to winning ways for PSV so the league
looks to be just out of our reach but
we definitely wont make it easy for them.
COME ON THE PSV!!!!

Castle Rovers 2-4 Rail PSV |
| |
| Report:
(by Brin Murray) |
|
Rail PSV’s
second last away game of the season seen
them up against mid-table side Castle
Rovers in sallynoggin park on Saturday
april 12th. The game started very slowly
and there were very few chances for either
side. The breakthrough came when PSV keeper
John Gaynor couldn’t hold on to
a deep rovers cross and then his clearance
bounced back into his own net off defender
Brin Murrays shin. Psv got an equalizer
10 minutes later wth a John O Connor penalty.4
minutes later though they were behind
again when a deep cross evaded everyone
and reached a Rovers player on the back
posted who nodded his team back in front.2-1
down so in a crucial game but it only
got worse for PSV. Gaynor was deceived
by the hard ground 2 minutes after the
restart when a long hopeful ball bounced
aver his head and into Rovers grateful
strikers path. 3-1. PSV needed to get
back into the game and Wayne Ashbrook
gave them a lifeline just before half
time with a great finish from the left.
The second half started with the game
still in the balance and it was obvious
the next goal would be the crucial one
but it just wouldn’t come. I t was
an off day for PSV. They just couldn’t
get there passing game started and castle
rovers hung on for a deserving win.Still
6 games left for PSV and there priority
now is to secure the promotion spot to
division 2a next year. Come on the PSV!!!

Mount Tallant 2-4 Rail PSV |
| |
| Report:
(by Brin Murray) |
First
midweek of the season for PSV seen them
have a tough game away to Mount Tallant
in stanaway park, crumlin. It was a crucial
3 points on offer to keep the ball rolling
so a big performance was needed. That
is exactly what PSV gave some excellent
football was played against a very physical
experienced side. PSV took the lead through
John O Connor after 23 minutes.He got
on the end of a Brin Murray pass and chipped
the keeper great finish 1-0 to PSV. PSV
kept the pressure on though and O Connor
was presented with an identical opportunity
7 minutes later once again he coolly chipped
the keeper. 2-0.Colly Brennan has been
making a habit of scoring goals from midfield
and he got his 17th of the season when
his volley went under the keeper on 40
minutes.3-0. Tallant weren’t giving
up without a fight though and they pulled
one back when a shot from 10 yards hit
the crossbar and rebounded off Alan Darcy
and into the net. The game still wasn’t
over so and PSV’s concentration
had to be good in the second half they
weathered an early storm and then began
to play some wonderful attacking football
several great chances were missed before
Wayne Ashbrook went on a dangerous run
beating two players before being taken
down in the box .O Connor stepped up and
secured his second Hat-Trick of the season.
Game was all but over then with only ten
minutes to go. Tallant got a late consolation
from the peno spot and the game finished
4-2. Crucial away win for PSV the league
seems is still wide open with at least
4 teams with a chance of the title.Come
on the PSV!

Rail PSV 4-0 Loman Celtic |
| |
| Report:
(by Brin Murray) |
Important
for Rail PSV to get back to winning ways
so after the loss the previous week and
this home game to division 2b strugglers
Loman Celtic looked a perfect opportunity.
In the new strip of blue and white Rail
PSV took the game to celtic straight away.
It was important to get wingers Wayne
Ashbrook and Phil Rooney into the game
right from the start which we did and
immediately Psv began to reap the rewards. The
celtic keeper failed to deal with a Rooney
cross and Paul ‘the dog, Clarke
was on hand to pounce1-0 to PSV 15 mins
gone. Another two goals came in quick
succession first a corner was taken short
to Craig Murtagh who swung in a perfect
cross to in form striker John O Connor
to nod home2-0.Then another cross from
the right was powered home by Colly Brennan.3-0.
PSV looked comfortable from then on which
was very welcome with a the next match
only two days away. Dave Tyndall came
on down the right in the second half and
caused plenty of problems setting up two
good chances in the second half which
weren’t taken. PSV did get there
4th however with 5 mins to go when O Connor
latched on to a clearance from defence
to coolly finish under the keeper. PSV
back on track then things hotting up in
division 2b. COME ON THE PSV!

Monkstown Close 1-0 Rail PSV |
| |
| Report:
(by Brin Murray) |
Rail PSV
faced another tough game this time it
was against Monkstown Close in a crucial
2nd against 3rd encounter on sat 22nd
march. It was a perfect day for a game
and the pitch in Foxrock was in extremely
good condition. Unfortunately despite
all the perfect ingredients for a great
game it turned sour after 15 mins when
the referee decided to send Kenny Reilly
off for bad language, ugly scenes followed
with the referee losing all control of
the situation even sending our manager
Liam Murtagh off. Eventually the game
restarted and there was no surprise when
monkstown took the lead right from the
restart a cross came in from the left
which was initially cleared it fell to
a monkstown player on the edge of the
box who managed to squeeze a shot through
the crowd and into the net. PSV regained
there composure and started to play the
kind of football which has them in such
a strong position in the league but the
crucial equalizer just wouldn’t
come. In the second half Both Alan Darcy
and Phil Rooney went close but it just
wasn’t to be our day.3 points dropped
so but the league title is still in sight.
COME ON THE PSV!

Rail PSV 4-1 Courtlands Celtic

| Report:
(by Brin Murray) |
Another
crunch game in division 2b seen Rail
PSV take on Courtland celtic at the
roadstone on Saturday. Both teams really
needed the 3 points to keep the pressure
on up at the top of the table. It was
the home team who got the perfect start
when Alan Darcy rose to meet a Phil
Rooney corner and powered the header
home 1-0 to the PSV. Courtland didn’t
let there head drop though and got an
equalizer 5 minutes later when they
had a throw in flicked on and then turned
in at the near post.1-1.It was a pretty
even match then and it looked like it
could go either way until Colly Brennan
got another goal from midfield after
some excellent work down the left by
Ray Gaynor.2-1 to PSV.PSV started to
take control of the game then man of
the match Phil Rooney was causing lots
of problems down the right and it was
after another one of his good runs that
John O Connor eventually got a chance
in the box he turned and fired the ball
under the keeper 3-1 at half time. The
second half was much more comfortable
for PSV there defence Wes Cooney Evan
Johnson, Kenny Reilly and Brin Murray
restricted the away to team to a couple
of half chances and with twenty minutes
to go O Connor sealed the victory when
he latched on to a 40 yard pass from
Evan Johnson and cooly finished in to
the top corner. Up to second in the
league now for PSV it’s looking
good. COME ON THE PSV!!!!!!

Sciroccos 0-5 Rail PSV

| Report:
(by Brin Murray) |
Rail
PSV kept up their impressive league
form with a 5-0 demolition of Scirrocos
on a rainy windy afternoon in nutgrove.
PSV took the initiative right from the
start and immediately put the home side
under pressure. The early pressure quickly
paid off when John O Connor was on hand
to put in a rebound from Alan Darcys
header.1-0 to the boys! The second came
10 minutes later when O Connor capitalized
on some sloppy defending from Scirrocos
to cut out a pass and fired home from
30 yards Great Goal!2-0! PSV were really
on top now and extended their lead 3
minutes later when some great link up
play between darcy and O Connor presented
Darcy with an opportunity he hammered
it into the top corner. 3-0. The second
half was much more relaxed PSV continued
to dominate and O Connor got his hat-trick
on 60 minutes with another good finish
4-0! Colly Brennan added the fifth with
ten minutes to go with a great low shot
from 20 yards out 5-0! Great result
for the lads which will have Rail PSV
fc creeping up the table, with there
sights set on the division 2b crown....
COME ON THE P.S.V!!!!!
